Shirts will be sold at the PTC table. President asked for ideas on how to make shirts more affordable to families. PTC does not have a plan to keep stock of shirts, but rather have them to be made to order. Current vendor is Freckled Bee.

Jog-a-thon

Jog-a-thon is scheduled for October 4th, Friday. There will be volunteering opportunities to do wristbands, cards, folding, recruiting sponsors. Shirts will be needed for Jog-a-thon by October 1st. Shirt design contest needs to wrap up by September 13th. Sponsors should also be all identified by September 13th.

Last year about $2,200 were needed for shirts. The cost is expected to grow. PTC will need volunteers to reach out for t-shirt donations. Every student gets a t-shirt. Teachers and volunteers also get a t-shirt. People who know potential sponsors can let them know that t-shirt is a great way to promote, as students wear them everywhere in the community. 4 gift cards received from Basil and Board. Any donation is a good donation for gifts and prizes.

Scholastic news

PTC purchases every year for teachers. Last year cost was $1,927.69, also purchased Generation Genius for $175. Teachers expressed interest in having Scholastic News available again this year. PTC voted unanimously in favor to purchase Scholastic News for the upcoming school year.  No opposed.

School supplies

There is a need to build awareness and promote donations into school supplies budget. Parents are expected to donate $10 per year. About $5,400 was needed last year for supplies. There was about $2,200 deficit. · School also has other supplies available such as backpacks and clothing. School asked to promote this with families who may need this support. ·

Halloween Costume Swap

Question was raised whether this year PTC wants to promote it to school families or to the greater community. PTC identified potential date of October 12th is a date for Costume Swap. PTC agreed to come back to it in September to finalize dates and logistics.

Hosting event during book fair

PTC discussed possible event ideas during book fair to attract more people. There will not be pancake breakfast this year. Book fair right now is slated for November. PTC was hesitant to host book fair or another event too soon after Jog-a-thon. Option was proposed to do it during conferences on October 23-24, but concern was that may be too close after Jog-a-thon.

PTC would like to replace pancake breakfast with a night event, possibly a movie night. However, there may be logistical and cost questions of purchasing rights for the move, if it is a promoted event. People were encouraged to come up with event ideas.

Yearbook

call to identify theme and let 5th graders know about the need for book cover ideas in September.

Meeting adjourned at 7:17pm.

Next meeting is on September 12 at 6:00 pm.
